Looking Beyond the symptoms

A woman receiving a therapeutic neck treatment from a practitioner.

Headaches near your temples, Jaw locking, limited motion or tightness?

Jaw tension, headaches, neck stiffness, and discomfort near the ears are often connected.

Get clear on what may be driving the tension, pressure, or recurring pain—and start addressing it.

What we’re looking for:

  • How your jaw is opening, closing, and moving
  • How your neck is supporting that movement
  • Where tension or restriction is building
  • What patterns may be causing it to keep coming back

Why This Keeps Coming Back

Jaw tension and recurring headaches are often connected to how the neck, jaw, posture, and surrounding muscles are working together.
When one area stops functioning well, other muscles and joints begin compensating—especially around the neck and jaw.

Common Patterns We See:

  • Jaw clicking or tightness
  • Headaches near the temples or base of the skull
  • Neck and shoulder tension
  • Clenching or stress guarding
  • Symptoms worse after desk work

If it keeps coming back and you’re not sure why, this is where we start.

One common pattern we see:

Many people don’t realize their jaw tension is connected to their neck.

Signs Your Neck or Jaw May Be Contributing

  • Tightness opening your mouth
  • Pain near the ear without an ear infection
  • Headaches that temporarily improve but return
  • Feeling like your jaw is “off” or uneven
  • Morning jaw or neck tension
  • Constantly needing to stretch your neck
  • Pain that shifts between the neck, jaw, and head

What we look for

Our Approach

We focus on how the jaw, neck, and surrounding muscles are functioning together — not just where the pain is showing up.

  • Neck mobility restrictions
  • Jaw movement and tracking
  • Muscle guarding patterns
  • Repetitive strain patterns
  • Range of motion limitations
  • Areas compensating for poor movement

What to expect

  1. We talk through your symptoms and patterns
  2. We assess how your neck and jaw are functioning
  3. We explain what may be contributing to the problem
  4. We begin care the same day when appropriate
